MR PORTER LAUNCHES ‘MADE IN CALIFORNIA’ CAPSULE
MR PORTER consistently delivers one of our favourite e-commerce experiences, so we were naturally pretty excited to learn of their recent ‘Made in California’ launch. A series of exclusive capsule collections, the initiative is inspired by the lifestyle and culture of the West Coast state from which it gets its name. Featuring a range of twelve brands including The Elder Statesman, James Perse, Rick Owens, and Simon Miller, ‘Made in California’ offers modern-day interpretations of surf, skate, street and casual wear. What could possibly be more perfect for the laidback Australian lifestyle?
“California has always heavily influenced us from a creative and commercial standpoint at MR PORTER,” explains Senior Buying Manager, Sam Lobban. “Even if you’ve never been to the region, you can certainly identify it, and together with our partner brands, we’ve created a series of capsules that capture that California spirit, and we’re making it available the world round.” Which feels like a compelling proposition in the face of the oncoming cooler weather in Sydney. What better way to combat the chill than with a dose of sunny Californian style?
Not only has MR PORTER never done a set of capsule collections this broad before, but they have also never highlighted a location as a source of inspiration for a collection. So there is obviously something very special in the water over in California, then. “Whether it be the resurgence of outdoor style from the spotlight on Northern California or the rock n roll, ripped trend we’re seeing that’s come out of LA, all roads are leading towards Californian style at the moment,” Lobban says. So with the newly launched range featuring all facets of the Californian spirit, we can’t help but feel that a wardrobe update might be in order.
